1) Wearing the new USA Team togs to local cardrooms has elicited quite a bit of response. Apparently a lot of people were aware of the shenanigans in DC, which is quite surprising, given that poker players are often an oblivious lot -- I spent the summer of 90 in Vegas and didn't know that Iraq had invaded Kuwait til I got back to Tucson. If someone even mentioned that they played Scrabble, I was all over them like a Hare Krishna at an airport (may I offer you a URL?).
2) Some ad with Chuck Daly and Penny Hardaway playing 4 handed scrabble. Slowing the tape down blurs the board (thus no repeat of the Rosemary's Baby puzzle brouhaha), but seeing as how one of the participants is a jive-talkin puppet, I really cannot imagine how they could be playing anything but SOWPODS.
3) Today's Jeopardy! Calendar answer:
This letter has the most tiles in Scrabble - twelve.
That's right, they failed to specify it as English Scrabble, so
this question is open to interpretation.
The Welsh set has 37 W's, and the Pig Latin set has 42 A's and 42 Y's.
As a legal aside, there was no R in a bubble following the word Scrabble, but there sure was one after Jeopardy! . I therefor must conclude that you cannot hook a ! onto Jeopardy unless a (R) sits one column over to the right. As always, consult your lawyer before hooking.
