Jane Williams posted:

Joe has asked me to post this: "What is the opposite of INERTIA?
 I minus RETINA."

Jane left out Joe's final sentence, "But the margin leaves me insufficient room to demonstrate the proof."

Well, let's see if this is so.

(1) INERTIA ~= (I-RETINA)

creating an equality,

(2) INERTIA = -1*((I-RETINA))
(3) INERTIA = -1*I + (-1)*(-RETINA)
(4) INERTIA = -I + RETINA
(5) INERTIA = RETNA

dividing both sides by ANTRE, (this is only allowed if a cave is not equal to zero, a reasonable assumption)

(6) II = 1

Now we need one more piece of information to tie it all together. Every engineering schoolboy knows the mnemonic,
twinkle twinkle little star, power equals I squared R.
That can be rewritten II = P/R.

substituting,

(7) P/R = 1

This is valid for all R not equal to zero. The fundamental theorem of intergalactic dominance states "Resistance is futile." This predicates the existence of resistance on establishing futility to be a nonzero quantity. The third law of thermodynamics implies an eventual heat death for the universe, therefor we can assert that futility is a nonzero quantity, thus establishing the existence of resistance.

(8) P = R

That is to say, the massive PR juggernaut known as Williams and Company has been fractured. This can be proven by:

(9) "Please bear with us, as we will all pitch in around here at the NSA
to cover his usual responsibilities. Everything will be done, but maybe
not in the usual timely fashion." - JRW

I think I'll stop here.

PS Why do humans have detached retinae and squids do not? Because millions of years ago a genetic permutation in our evolution led to them being connected on the inside, whereas the squids attached from the outside. This is also why we have blind spots and they do not. Altho these coin flips sometimes lead to minor annoyances (on an evolutionary scale, I'm sure Joe is too zenned to let physical limitations annoy him), they ultimately lead to the variation that produces the most resilient of all possible species. See November 98 Scientific American for further reading, along with closeup photographs of spiders mating.

PPS Sorry I've been under a lot of stress at work lately.
