Eighth? Pish! Consider yourself sixth!

Apparently my response to Rita has touched off a bit of controversy. Steven Alexander painstakingly pointed out that a valid contract must have an offer and an acceptance and that Rita's rhetorical lament could not be construed as a legally binding offer, tho it may depend on the defintion of the word _a_. He then promptly offered me $65 for the right to be 6th place at the NSC. If there's one thing I hate worse than slimeball lawyers, it's lowball slimeball lawyers. Bob Schoenman has since offered $105 (a savings of several hundred dollars as he wasn't even there!), and the bidding is open. Keep tuned to: http://www.jimgeary.com/scrab/letters/BIDDING.HTM.

While ranting about this on Marldoom last night, Bob Felt interjected that as 1990 North American Champion he had no use with a piddling 6th place accolade, but he would give me $300 for 30 points of OPR towards the 1999 WSC qualification cycle. I await reply from Robert Parker if I can do this now while my # of games is low enough to more easily recoup.

Sherrie Saint John emailed me privately to see if my innocence was still available, but I regretfully informed her that I misplaced that somewhere between the 1995 Superstars and Kingman, Arizona.

Bob Smith offered me a replacement Franklin battery to drop his URL into my sig file.

And finally David Stone offered me $5 for the name of my barber opining that there just weren't enough nice Jewish boys with bad buzz cuts in New York City, Philip Roth notwithstanding.

And so it goes..
